Could Yoda be a Biblical character? Medieval manuscript features a painted figure resembling the Star Wars hero

Manuscripts featuring Samson look a lot like Yoda.

In a 14th century book, a green-skinned character was painted, resembling Yoda. Just like the Star Wars icon, the painted character in the old religious documents is donning a white cloak and has spiky, long fingers and the pointed ears sticking out. Although there is clear resemblance, an expert claims that the painted character is a representation from the story of the Biblical figure, Samson.

span style="line-height: 15.8599996566772px;">MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "The Yoda image comes from a 14th century manuscript known as the Smithfield Decretals," said the British Library curator Dr. Julian Harrison, according to the Daily Mail.

"Only does the artist have a vivid imagination for the story of Samson, not that a time traveler did this in inclusion of Yoda in the Bible," wrote the medieval manuscripts curator in the blog.

Samson is the character who was endowed with supernatural physical strengths and was ordered by God in the defense of His name. Yet, the story of the super strong figure, whose weaknesses are his hair and untrustworthy girls, does not necessarily depict a spot for the mysterious Jedi Knight-looking figure.

However, Dr. Harrison said that the Yoda-looking figure could just be an addition to the page, making it more fanciful. He added that the mysterious character is not alone in the page and in the whole manuscript, Decretals of Gregory IX with gloss of Bernard of Parma, several animal-human hybrids are also painted.

According to NPR, the manuscript is estimated as done meticulously between 1300 and 1340 in France.

In the Star Wars folklore, Yoda is about 900 years of age but no one is speculating yet that the painted figure had influenced the creation of the sci-fi character in the movie shot in the 1970s. Then, the painted "Yoda" in the manuscript stands at about 260 years old.
