Over the weekend Pope Francis baptized 33 infants in the Sistine Chapel, and he turned heads when he suggested that the mothers breastfeed their children if they cried out in hunger.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "You mothers give your children milk and even now, if they cry because they are hungry, breastfeed them, don't worry," he said.

Combat corruption with moral education; send a Bible to a child, or another person in need.

Francis asked those who attended to be thankful for their ability to feed their children, as there are "too many" mothers around the world who, "unfortunately... can't give food to their children."

This is not the first time Pope Francis has used such words to new mothers, actions that fit with his legacy of championing traditional family rearing and love.

In 2013 Francis made a similar comments during a papal audience at the Vatican, which he recalled later during a December 2013 interview with La Stampa.

2015 can be your year! Become closer to God today.

"The child was crying its eyes out as I came past," he said. "The mother was caressing it. I said to her: 'Madam, I think the child's hungry.' 'Yes, it's probably time.' she replied. 'Please give it something to eat!' I said. She was shy and didn't want to breastfeed in public, while the Pope was passing. I wish to say the same to humanity: give people something to eat!"

Twenty girls and 13 boys were baptized by Francis during the January 11 event.
