'Enough with all the rules' firework industry calls out to Obama
FREE Catholic Classes
This year, more states have allowed people to buy pyrotechnic materials, such as sparklers and Roman Candles. In fact, this year has been wonderful for fireworks manufacturers, since the projected 2015 sales of celebratory explosives are estimated to top $1 billion.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - However, now that the Fourth of July season is fast approaching, the manufacturers are lobbying against incomprehensible protocols from the Obama administration, which they claim is their one big problem. Firework manufacturers and distributors protested Obama's regulators, describing them as "completely insane" by imposing so many standards on the fireworks industry, according to Politico.
On the other hand, Officials at the Consumer Product Safety Commission asserted that the fireworks industry is still operating in a danger zone. According to data, there were about 11 casualties and at least 10,000 injuries from fireworks last year. CPSC communications director Scott Wolfson explained that "that's an unacceptable number," even more so now that more states have their markets open for fireworks.
Julie Heackman, American Pyrotechnics Association executive explained why it's been difficult in terms of dealing with a rotating cast of the administration's political officials. She also spoke about how the fireworks industry manages safety concerns, since most of its products are imported from China.
"People are going to celebrate on the Fourth of July with fireworks, and typically they will cross state lines, county lines. They'll bring their fireworks back to their home where it might not be legal. And so, with enforcement, as well as with looking at the amount of revenue generated from, you know, selling fireworks, states are saying, 'Hey, we don't want to lose that revenue. We'd like to gain it in our state,'" stated Heackman to Politico. "And they're looking at special taxes that help support perhaps fireworks training for the enforcement officials or a special fund that they can generate that money with."
