Live Small So I Can Be Big

Stopping in the middle of my walk, I took in the panoramic view around me. I was surrounded by beautiful homes, picture perfect families, fancy clothes, classy cars - an all around lavish and highly desired lifestyle (at least in appearance).

Keywords: comparison is the thief of joy, i shall not want, live small so i can live big
NASHVILLE, TN - In a moment of weakness, I pouted to the Lord because I felt lacking. In my humanness I craved the totality of these things. 'Why can't this be me, Lord? Will I ever have these things too?'
I looked off in the distance at the sun making it's slow descent over the ocean waters and God gently whispered to me, 'Live small so I can be big,' and with that I bucked up and put aside my longings if even for just a moment and focused on why I am here.
I am here so He can work through me. You are here so He can work through you. His work looks different as He works through different molds, different beings. The masterful artist He is, He works in whichever manner He sees fit for each of us.
Comparison gets us nowhere. My life is not the life of any other, and so any comparison I attempt to draw will never be a fair one. If God is asking me (asking us) to live a 'small' life (however 'small' is defined for you) so that He might show the world how big He is, then so be it. May all I do glorify Him.
May I never want anything, but a heart that burns for a deeper love of Him and all His creation. May I live small so that He can be big.
The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.
In green pastures he makes me lie down; to still waters he leads me; he restores my soul.
He guides me along right paths for the sake of his name.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me.
