Bringing light in a world of dark entertainment, new show 'Answered Prayers' will tell stories of God.

Roma Downey, actress and filmmaker for movies like "The Bible", "Son of God" and "A.D.", shared that an upcoming show she will host aims to share inspiring stories of "modern-day miracles." These real-life stories constitute the struggles of families and individuals who had their prayers answered at crucial moments in their lives.

Highlights

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "This is a show that is about hope. It will open even the hardest of hearts. When hearts are open grace moves in. My hope is that many people will be reminded that they are not alone. God is with us, he loves us and he hears us when we cry out to him," said Downey in a statement with The Blaze regarding her new show "Answered Prayers."

The actress-host promises to present real-life stories on the show, highlighting the moments of divine intervention.

According to The Blaze, the show's format will mix interviews with real footage and reenactments of events where the modern-day miracles happened. With the show's focus on the lives, struggles and their path with faith, the creators aim to give audiences a different feel than many shows airing these days.

Downey expressed her own disagreement when she watches television and how all the shows and news talk about are themes of fear, death and destruction.

"Answered Prayers" will premier July 26 on TLC. The pilot episode will include a story that illustrates how God spoke to a woman about saving her children from a storm.

As she hid them inside a closet, a tornado ripped through their community. It should have left them all dead, as it ripped their home. The first episode will also touch on how God lead a family to an important decision following a lawnmower accident.

Downey expressed she believes that answers to prayers come in times when needed most and God never leaves our side, even in times of darkness.
