Cable continued to dominate the television nominations: "House" was the lone network program in the drama category, with other nods going to "Dexter," "In Treatment," "Mad Men" and freshman vampire drama "True Blood." "House" star Hugh Laurie is up for a best dramatic actor Globe, competing against "Mad Men's" Jon Hamm, "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall, "In Treatment's" Gabriel Byrne and Jonathan Rhys Meyers of "The Tudors."

In something of a surprise, HBO's therapy series "In Treatment" tied at five with the TV movie "Recount." Critical darlings "30 Rock" and "Mad Men" came in at three each.

Brad Pitt's performance in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" was nominated in the Best Actor and Best Picture drama categories, with other nominated dramas including "Frost/Nixon," "The Reader," "Revolutionary Road" and "Slumdog Millionaire." Heath Ledger is up for a posthumous Golden Globe thanks to his turn as The Joker in "The Dark Knight." "Tropic Thunder" got two best supporting actor nods for Tom Cruise's hilariously vulgar Les Grossman and Robert Downey Jr.'s Kirk Lazarus.

"Button," "Doubt" and "Frost/Nixon" lead the movie nominations with five each.

The 66th annual Golden Globes are scheduled to air Jan. 11 on NBC.
