LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Millions of people work to reach the limelight in Hollywood, but few ever reach the A-list.

The LA Times reports industry experts cautioning talent, luck and persistence are necessary for making it in Hollywood, but having an edge is so much a requirement, it is hardly worth mentioning.

Actors, Models & Talent for Christ (AMTC) is an Atlanta-based non-profit ministry with secular talent search origins.

Their website reads, "We find, prepare and launch performers into the world's most influential mission field: entertainment. Our faith-based education, international conference and focus on fellowship set the stage for God's stars to shine as reflections of His Truth.

"A force of good is rising in media. Actors, models and talent for Christ are destined to lead it."
AMTC Executive Director, Adam She, said, "There is no better way to go out to all the world than through media and the entertainment industry ... It's where all the role models are at.

"[Hollywood] is a mere reflection of the world it portrays. The darkness is not just Hollywood. It's the whole world."

Though some training seminars have provided outdated information, She reports several AMTC graduates have made it into Hollywood, particularly T.C. Stallings and Ben Davies, both of whom appeared in Christian drama "War Room."

AMTC held a weekend seminar in Orange County, California, in which performers were asked to "pay what you pray," meaning performers prayed before paying how much they felt they should for the services AMTC offered. She reported most paid in the $3,000 range.

Alex Stovall, a student at Arizona Christian University in Phoenix, said, "I did pray about it, actually, and I wound up paying $1,300. From my experience with life, if God puts you in a position and you don't have a doubt you should go for it."

Beginning next year, participants would be required to pay $5,245 for a seminar packages that includes up to four weekends of classes and admission to a talent showcase in Orlando, Florida, twice a year.

Fourteen-year-old Chloe Sebest believes Christians trained by AMTC can serve as ambassadors for Christ in Hollywood.

"We are trying to be the light in the darkness of Hollywood," she explained. "We are trying to shine the light on what Christianity should be - what it really is, how it is this accepting religion ... Right now, I think Christianity has a bad rep. I want to show again that we 'love thy neighbor.'"

Fourteen-year-old Vanessa Flores believes Christian seminars provide stability.

"It's a little more secure," Flores stated. "Especially in this business - a lot of people go off edge. And I think if I keep my head stable with God in it, everything will be good."
