Dual Language/Bilingual Program at UST

Houston is the most diverse city in the nation where Dual language Program students have many opportunities after graduation.

"The Dual Language/Bilingual Program at UST trains teachers to use their dual language skills in K-12 classrooms to teach linguistically diverse populations," Dr. Ginny Torres-Rimbau, director of the program, said. "This approach enables students to progress academically in English and another language (Arabic, French, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish) and gain an appreciation of both cultures. University of St. Thomas is the only university in Houston with that focus. We need more teachers and administrators who are trained in this model in our schools."

Ed.D. in Ethical Leadership Program at UST

"The School of Education has also been recognized for outstanding programs and exemplary online courses in our M.Ed. Program too," Dr. Paul Paese, dean of SEHS, said. "Twenty-five percent of UST students in the doctorate of Education in Ethical Leadership are Hispanic, with a three-year graduation rate of more than 95 percent."

The Ed.D. in Ethical Leadership program is an innovative, student-centric program that provides a scholarly template to analyze administrative practices and promote socially responsible leadership in schools and organizations with an educational purpose.

This doctoral degree is a three-year program designed to accommodate working adults in K-12, higher education institutions, and education related non-profits.

UST is a Hispanic-serving Institution

University of St. Thomas is a Hispanic-serving institution, a designation given by the Department of Education. To be considered Hispanic serving, the institution must have 25 percent or more in total Hispanic enrollment. UST serves a diverse student body that hails from 33 states and 58 countries. Its student population mirrors the diversity in Houston.
