LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The two boys, from Yemen, were born connected at the torso, and shared both their large and small intestines, their genitals, urinary system and pubic bone. It took 25 doctors and nurses to perform the delicate surgery at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which involved reconstructing parts of the organs that had to be divided.

Abdullah and Abdulrahman were given survival odds between 60% and 70% because of other birth defects including issues with their brains and hearts.
The team included anesthesiologists, pediatric surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, plastic surgeons and numerous nursing and technical staff members. After the surgery the twins were successfully moved to the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit.
This event was the 35th such operation on conjoined twins performed in Saudi Arabia since 1990. On March 2, the staff was at work on an Egyptian boy, removing a parasitic twin that was not alive.
