Benedictine abbot, also listed as Qualfredo della Gherardesca. Born in Pisa, Italy, he married and raised five sons and a daughter. After many years, both he and his wife decided to enter the religious life. With a friend, Fortis, and a relative, Gunduald, he founded a monastery at Palazzuolo, near Volterra, and a convent nearby for their wives' andWalfrid's daughter. Walfrid served as the first abbot of the monastery and was succeeded by one of his sons. His cult was confirmed in 1861 by Pope Pius IX.
