St. Adrian

St. Adrian

St. Adrian

Feastday: September 8
Patron of plague, epilepsy, arms dealers, butchers, guards, soldiers
Died: 306

According to legend Adrian was a pagan officer at the imperial court of Nicomedia. Impressed by the courage of a group of Christians who were being tortured, he declared himself a Christian and was imprisoned with them and suffered excruciating tortures before he was put to death. His young wife, Natalia, who was present at his death, comforted him in his agony, recovered one of his severed hands, and took it to Argyropolis near Constantinople, where she fled to escape the importunities of an imperial official of Nicomedia who wanted to marry her. She died there peacefully on December 1. Adrian is the patron of soldiers and butchers.

GOD ALMIGHTY, bless St. Adrian of Nicomedia, may THE LORD be with him, for his courage and bravery, and his sacrifice, in the battle against the forces of evil, which he fought against. I just wanted to say that may THE LORD and St. Adrian of Nicomedia, bless the soldiers and butchers around the world, and give them blessing of not to enforce violence against the violente ones. That it shall not be necessary for butchers and soldiers to respond violently towards the violent, and that THE LORD and St. Adrian of Nicomedia guide the butchers and soldiers to accomplish their mission by helping others. GOD BLESS Natalie, wife of St. Adrian for also accepting and supporting Adrian to acomplish his holy and brave mission

St. Adrian, once again I'm so grateful to know and read about your heroic life which you sacrificed for love of God. You were blessed with a faithful and loving wife, Natalia who I woudl say also deserves sainthood. Both must have loved each other completely and faithfully. Dear St. Adrian, you are the patron saint of soldiers and butchers. Pray for all who are in these professions. Keep them safe from all bodily and mental harm. Bring soldiers home to their loved ones. Free them from the scars of war, destruction and brutality. Bless soldiers with a much desired peace.
St. Adrian, pray for us on your feast day. Amen

Saint Adrian pray for us all; pray for those of us weak enough to want to be soldiers to become strong; pray for those of us soldiers who weep and long to be home; pray for soldiers in despair that they may see light and life; pray for soldiers everywhere that they may avoid all strife; pray for soldiers ordered to torture that they may remember thee; pray for soldiers of Christ that they may ever cheer with thee and remain free, Amen Sophia does not this Saint Adrian reprise, a little, the Rishi, preacher of patience song of the East, and forward to the spiritual, "we shall not be moved," Oremus
