Cistercian abbot and reformer. He was born in Brittany but studied in Paris, where he entered the Cistercians at Langonette Monastery in 1144. He was elected abbot there in 1147 and in 1176 governed Carnoet Abbey, which had been built for him by Duke Conan IV of Brittany.
