St. John Ogilvie
1579 - 1615
Born in 1579, John Ogilvie belonged to Scottish nobility. Raised a Calvinist, he was educated on the continent. Exposed to the religious controversies of his day and impressed with the faith of the martyrs, he decided to become a Catholic. In 1596, at age seventeen he was received into the Church at Louvain. Later John attended a variety of Catholic educational institutions, and eventually he sought admission into the Jesuits. He was ordained at Paris in 1610 and asked to be sent to Scotland, hoping some Catholic nobles there would aid him given his lineage. Finding none, he went to London, then back to Paris, and finally returned to Scotland. John's work was quite successful in bring back many people to the Faith. Some time later he was betrayed by one posing as a Catholic. After his arrest he was tortured in prison in an effort to get him to reveal the names of other Catholics, but he refused. After three trials, John was convicted of high treason because he converted Protestants to the Catholic Faith as well as denied the king's spiritual jurisdiction by upholding the Pope's spiritual primacy and condemning the oaths of supremacy and allegiance. Sentenced to death, the courageous priest was hanged at Glasgow in 1615 at the age of thirty-six. His feast day is March 10.

St. John Ogilvie, please pray for me to be more forgiving and obedient to the will of God.

Dear Saint,
The church needs priests like you to convert people from disillusioned secularism to the one true faith. Kindly pray for the Jesuit priests in the United States and in general that they follow their fourth vow to obey the Pope and preach the faith with zeal as their founder. The church needs a Militant Pope dressed in divine love like Christ to protect the world from anarchy and chaos which would eventually lead to its destruction if not guided into the teachings of Christ. Please pray that our Lords gifts the church with a Holy and Brave Pope this Easter. Amen.
Please pray for Jacob that he finds the right path and peace, for Michelle that the doctors can slow the progression of her disease and for all cancer patients that they deal with their disease with grace and dignity. Dear God, thank you for making me cancer free.
Thank You to the Lord for the beautiful prayers being posted here :)

What a saint of courage and knowledge I for 17 years struggled with my catholic faith but with my being led back to the faith and learning the real truths of my catholic faith and how the 7 sacraments are so important. The Eucharist is so real and to be able to be closer to God is a must in my life! Thank you St Olgolvie for being an great example of our faith. Please remember me!
Dear St. John Ogilvie, please pray for me.
St. John Ogilvie, today was a difficult day for me in relation to siblings and legal matters. Realising I had to go through with it, I found that addressing the issue was better than ignoring it. Now, things seem to be clearing up, which is good. I think that you as saint of the day must have helped me a lot. I request you dear saint to help conclude an important matter in a truly honest and just way, as would have been my mother's will. Help us to get over hurt feelings, please. .Amen.
How i wish to become a martyr also like Saint John ogilvei, to die for Christ to live with Him for eternity. To have the spirit of Christ.
Saint John Ogilvie is also my confirmation Saint. He was a remarkable priest who stood firm in his Faith and ultimately died because of his efforts to bring Scotland back to the Church. It is regrettable that not many, particularly here in the US, know of this incredible Ambassador for Christ. I hope that more will continue to learn about this wonderful Saint and Martyr.
May God grant us all a blessed Lent that brings each of us closer to Him.
