St. Eleutherius - Abbot
St. Eleutherius - Abbot
Died: 585
A wonderful simplicity and spirit of compunction were the distinguishing virtues of this holy man. He was chosen abbot of St. Mark's near Spoleto, and favored by God with the gift of miracles. A child who was possessed by the devil, being delivered by being educated in his monastery, the Abbot said one day: "Since the child is among the servants of God, the devil dares not approach him." These words seemed to savor of vanity, and thereupon the devil again entered and tormented the child.
The Abbot humbly confessed his fault, and fasted and prayed with his whole community till the child was again freed from the tyranny of the fiend. St. Gregory, the Great, not being able to fast on Easter-eve on account of extreme weakness, engaged this Saint to go with him to the church of St. Andrew's and offer up his prayers to God for his health, that he might join the faithful in that solemn practice of penance.
Eleutherius prayed with many tears, and the Pope, coming out of the church, found that he was enabled to perform the fast as he desired. It is also said that St. Eleutherius raised a dead man to life. Resigning his abbacy, he died in St. Andrew's monastery in Rome about the year 585.

dear St.eleutherious, you are very important to me,pray to me were you are,
Dear St. Eleutherius, free us from the tyranny of the fiend. Protect all my loved ones, children and grandchildren from the snares of the devil. Give me great graces to be able to live my life as if I am preparing for the day I surrender my soul to God. May I not skip or overlook God-give opportunities. Please grant healing to all sick and suffering children who are tormented with mental illness. Amen.
I am curious, totally removed fr: the study of Eleu.-abbot about the saying, "possesed by the devil." I pondered the moral clothing so to say, the under-tow of words does give gravity to not leaving questionable traits in a plain, unintelligent. The gathers of exteams of behavior carefully clothed w/ concerned composure. I shall wear it also oh, lord.
(thank you for the elec.boxes w/ my newsletter, it helps me feel not alone.)

Dear St. Eleutherius, I am one person who fears God, nonetheless, still lacking humility, forgiveness and perseverance. Please pray for me that my faith and hope are deepened and strengthened and become an instrument to God's mission. I love my family so much that I work hard to provide them with all the comfort in life but it hurts me so much that sometimes I feel I am not being reciprocated with the same love that I give. I know I should not be expecting such, because love should be unconditional. I am probably scared because my husband is retired and the company that I work with is in the verge of shutting down and anytime soon, I will lose my job. I still have my real estate business though, but really not quite active and sufficient to sustain my usual daily expenses. With your powerful intercession and gift of miracles, pls. pray for me to our Lord Jesus. I am sure He will find ways to alleviate all my concerns. Thank you.
St. Eleutherius, your sense of compunction for sins is rare. In our effort to sound and seem 'good' we become defensive of our actions, and offesive towards others. This is not your saintly way of being sorry for sins. Please pray for me to have a genuine sense of humility and a sincere desire to rely of our loving Saviour for forgiveness of sin. Give me a wonderful desire to refrain from dwelling on hurts. Help me with your powerful intercession to move on. Use your powerful gift of miracles to heal Christian Ruiz from his affliction. I ask this of you on your feast day, in Jesus name. Amen.
