St. Paschal
Paschal was the son of Bonosus, a Roman. He studied at the Lateran, was named head of St. Stephen's monastery, which housed pilgrims to Rome, and was elected Pope to succeed Pope Stephen IV (V) on the day Stephen died, January 25, 817. Emperor Louis the Pious agreed to respect papal jurisdiction, but when Louis' son Lothair I came to Rome in 823 to be consecrated king, he broke the pact by presiding at a trial involving a group of nobles opposing the Pope. When the two papal officials who had testified for the nobles were found blinded and murdered, Paschal was accused of the crime. He denied any complicity but refused to surrender the murderers, who were members of his household, declaring that the two dead officials were traitors and the secular authorities had no jurisdiction in the case. The result was the Constitution of Lothair, severely restricting papal judicial and police powers in Italy. Paschal was unsuccessful in attempts to end the iconoclast heresy of Emperor Leo V, encouraged SS. Nicephorous and Theodore Studites in Constantinople to resist iconoclasm, and gave refuge to the many Greek monks who fled to Rome to escape persecution from the iconoclasts. Paschal built and redecorated many churches in Rome and transferred many relics from the catacombs to churches in the city. Although listed in the Roman Martyrology, he has never been formally canonized. His feast day is February 11.

St Paschal... My patron saint. Please pray for me to always defend the church and revive souls for Christ.
Dear Saint,
Give me the courage to face persecutions for the Holy Name of Our Beloved God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Please pray for Jacob that he finds peace and the right path, for his mother that the doctors can slow the progression of her disease and for all cancer patients that we deal with our disease with grace and dignity. Thank you.
St. Paschal, Please continue to pray for me, to be blessed with the gift of discernment in whatever I do.
dear St. Paschal, Please intercede for me for the gift of discernment in recognizing and overcoming evil, with goodness and piety.
Saint Paschal, pray for us and watch over us all. Protect us from all harm & danger...amen.
Mama Mary, how blessed we are to call you Mother and Queen. You become our Mother at the foot of the Cross. at Christ, your Son's recommendation. Thank you for being so faithful to us, your lonesome, helpless children. We remember that today we celebrate you as Our Lady of Lourdes, the Healing Mother, who will not abandon those who are sick or wracked in bed of pain. Help all who are bed-ridden, give them comfort, courage and consolation. Most importantly, I rely on you to find a permanent cure for all children who are born with terrible afflictions, such as epileptic fits, developmental delays, speech delays, constant ear infections, separation anxieties, hand flapping, tiptoeing and attention defiency syndrome. Dear Mother, I implore and beg your mercy for these vulnerable children, that a permanent cure may be found for them, through which they will be completely cured. May these poor suffering children speak fluently, learn fast, socialise and be able to think and reason. Dear Mother look on them with pity, mercy, compassion and love. Only a word from you to your beloved Son will be enough to get them all that I ask for. I was so impressed that Friday's Gospel reading was about a miracle story in which Christ healed a deaf and dumb man. When Jesus healed him with his spit, the ligament of tongue was loosened, the dumb man spoke fluently. What Mercy. I felt Christ was speaking to me to trust that He'll do it for all little, suffering children. Mother of Good health, answer my prayer on your feastday of Our Lady of Lourdes. Amen
Claire, thank you for noting the oversight regarding Our Lady of Lourdes, indeed a beautiful feast day. And especially so for my family, my second grandson was born on Feb 11, just days ago. It is of great significance to me that his birth is on the day that celebrates the Blessed Virgin's appearance to a sick child of poor parents who is directed to a healing spring to which millions have followed to receive the blessing of Our Lady.
The new little one's older brother was born on Jan 6, Epiphany. How blessed they are!
I am sorry you did not post the beautiful feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, February 11th. It's to beautiful of a feast day to omit
Tough read this morning. But did get the message that good hard work will be rewarded. God Bless all.
