St. Paschal Baylon
Patron of Eucharistic congresses and Eucharistic associations
1540 - 1592
Franciscan lay brother and mystic. Born to a peasant family at Torre Hermosa, in Aragon, on Whitsunday, he was christened Pascua in honor of the feast. According to accounts of his early life, Paschal labored as a shepherd for his father, performed miracles, and was distinguished for his austerity. He also taught himself to read. Receiving a vision which told him to enter a nearby Franciscan community, he became a Franciscan lay brother of the Alcantrine reform in 1564, and spent most of his life as a humble doorkeeper. He practiced rigorous asceticism and displayed a deep love for the Blessed Sacrament, so much so that while on a mission to France, he defended the doctrine of the Real Presence against a Calvinist preacher and in the face of threats from other irate Calvinists. Paschal died at a friary in Villareal, and was canonized in 1690. In 1897 Pope Leo XIII declared him patron of all eucharistic confratemities and congresses. Since 1969, his veneration has been limited to local calendars.

On may 17, 2013 AMC was playing many Clint Eastwood movies. I was watching Joe Kid (1972), even though I had seen the movie too many times I was always crazy over Stella Garcia Spanish actress---but this time I noticed the name on the church--St. Paschal Baylon , I thought I had known every saint but never heard of him and was surprised to see that it was his exact feast day that the movie was on--MY QUESTION: does anyone know about this mission church in the movie-- if it was an authentic mission church or just some movie get-up with the saints name on it? I had a hard time finding info on the internet but did see others on the internet had been asking the same thing but no responses.

St. Paschal Baylon i some times don't know how choose the right thing to devote myself to do before God. Help by your constant intercession before Jesus so that i may chose the right way of living and dedicating myself in prayer most especially before the blessed sacrament so that i can tell Jesus about my life and also i desire to have matrimony so to get Jesus in my weak human body. Amen

Kindly increase the devotion for The Eucharist among the clergy who shepherd the laity. Fill the laity with the utmost devotion towards the Blessed Sacrament as you had so that the Love Christ fill everyone's heart and mind and help them to resist the plans of the evil one. Help all the faithful who are struggling to be united with Christ's teachings so that the will of God will be done in spite of their sinful nature.Bless the Holy Father, Pope Francis, that he endeavors relentlessly to fulfill the will of God throughout the Holy Church. Let all the scattered Churches be united under the One Catholic Church and fight against the anti-Christ movements as you fought against the Calvinists. Amen.
