Bishop and court counselor, known for his sanctity at an early age. He is called Ayoul in some lists. Aigulf was born in Bourges, France, where he became a hermit. In 811 he was named bishop of Bourges and served the people of the region faithfully. In 829, Aigulf attended the Council of Toulouse. He was also commanded by King Louis the Pious to judge the fate of his fellow prelates. These churchmen had backed the sons of King Louis in a rebellion.
