Benedictine bishop, also called Audard. Bum at Montauban (Monlauriol), France, he studied law at the University of Toulouse and then at the Benedictine abbey of Montauban before becoming a lawyer. Appointed secretary to Archbishop Sigebold of Narbonne, he soon was named an archdeacon and finally succeeded Sigebold as archbishop. His death at St. Martin's Abbey (where he received the Benedictine habit) was probably hastened by the severe austerities he practiced.
