Martyr and companion of St. Epimachus. Alexander and Epimachus lived in Alexandria, Egypt. They were taken prisoner during the reign of Emperor Decius, then tortured and burned to death. Four women shared their martyrdom: Ammonaria, Mercuria, Dionisia, a mother, and another woman, thought by some to have been named Ammonaria.
