Martyr and priest. According to tradition, he was a priest in the region of Umbria, Italy who was put to death during the persecutions of Emperor Trajanus Decius. The account may be apocryphal, and it is possible that Porphyrius can be identified with Agapitus of Palestrina and also the martyrs Venantius and Porphyrius.
