Shop Bl. Peter of Avila
Franciscan martyr in Japan. From Palomares, Castile, Spain, he belonged to a noble family but chose to enter the Franciscans. Sent first to the Philippines with Blessed Louis Sotelo, he moved on to Japan where he was arrested by government officials and burned alive at Nagasaki. Beatified in 1867, he is counted as one of the Great Martyrs of Japan.
