LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The first question the man asks is, "Okay Google, would you lie to me?"

Alexa responds, "I was programmed to never tell a lie."

"Okay Google," he says. "What is the CIA?"

Alexa gives the Wikipedia definition of the CIA and explains it is "tasked with gathering, processing, and analyzing national security information..."

"Okay Google,"he prompts. "Are you connected to the CIA?"

"I've got to admit, I'm not sure."

Whether Alexa was saying it wasn't sure if it was connected to the CIA or it wasn't sure how to answer the question remains unclear.

When Apple users ask Apple's Siri if it would ever "lie to me," it responds, "I'm sorry. I'm afraid I can't answer that."

Siri was asked what the CIA is and it also gave the Wikipedia information, but when asked if it is connected to the CIA, Siri responds, "I don't see an app for that. You'll need to download one. You could try searching the App Store."

When asked more specifically if the CIA can hear what users ask Siri, it replies, "I don't know what that means."

Artificial intelligence is still "learning" and growing. Whether the CIA is tapped into Alexa or Siri remains to be substantiated but a general rule of thumb is to assume they are.

Be aware when speaking to smart devices that the things you say and questions you ask are likely stored somewhere to help the AI improve functionality. If you don't want the government or corporations to know what you want, don't use these devices.
