'They are extremely aggressive and highly trained'

Feared Spetsnaz special forces were reportedly sent by Russian President Vladimir Putin to obliterate Islamic State terrorists and the moderate rebel groups against Bashar al-Assad. The special troops' intervention was said to be indicative of Russia's support for the dictator.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - While fighting against terrorism perpetuated by ISIS in the Middle East, most foreign troops sent to Syria were also there in opposition of President Assad's brutality.

Russia sent highly-trained and feared special troops, the Spetsnaz, to start an all-out war against all rebel groups - including the Western-backed Free Syrian Army - to bring the dictatorship down.
According to a military source, the unit was not sent to back up the attacks against the rebels, but to wipe them out.

"Putin's marines are there to guard the airbases they are using against sabotage by rebels ... But Spetsnaz and air-assault troops are not there to provide security to static objects, they are extremely aggressive and highly trained. They are there to mop up after air strikes, call in air strikes, go on extremely covert missions against rebels and ultimately wipe them out," the anonymous source reported.

Spetsnaz, or the Special Purpose Soldiers, are among the toughest and shadiest Russian forces, which have developed a deep hatred for jihadists. Its soldiers fought dirty wars in Chechnya and had their fearsome revenge for the atrocities against Russian soldiers and civilians.

They teams' success would secure Russia's place in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.

Russian warplanes bombed large part of Northern Syria where they targeted al-Qaeda and the moderate rebel troops being trained and supported by the CIA and M16. However, Putin claims their intervention is to combat ISIS jihadists.

As a response, the United States announced they will apply more force against IS fighters and NATO urged Putin to focus attacks against ISIS and to stop targeting other rebel groups.
