Colombian statue may be miracle

Images of a Virgin Mary statue with a single red 'tear' streaming down her face has spread rampant through social media prompting hundreds of pilgrims to visit the statue in Columbia.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The statue located in Floridablanca, Columbia is believed to be crying a "single tear of blood," according to the Daily Mail.

The Floridablanca locals believe this is a miracle of their own, while many visitors are just hoping to catch a glimpse of the potential miracle.

"I saw that the Virgin had a tear of blood. I was surprised. I felt joyful, sad... everything!" expressed resident, Ana Cristina Jimenez.

Although many are excited to see this statue, the Catholic Church has not made an official statement or participated in the mass pilgrimage to Floridablanca. The archbishop of Bucaramanga, a nearby city, has asked the people to "be cautious," according to the Daily Mail.

"Every day the neighbours pray in front of the Virgin Mary and yesterday they saw that she had a tear from her left eye," stated an unnamed local. "People went to look at her closely and confirmed it was true. Many people have come to see it and have been stunned."

According to a local priest in the area, Jorge Eliecer Garcia, "people tend to rally in these situations that become pilgrimages or even business to some. But they also touch the hearts of people in one way or another."

The locals have since called out to Catholic Church representatives for an investigation into their miracle to determine if it is indeed truth or if there is a different explanation for what has happened to their Virgin Mary statue.

"I believe it. The Virgin is alive in Heaven. I know she's real," exclaimed Miryan Quinetero, a Floridablanca local.
