Justice and Mercy for Mel Gibson

I find it most interesting how Hollywood and the secular press selectively feature stories with their own "spin" in a perpetual state of oblivion in terms of their biased reporting. While Mel Gibson was absolutely wrong for what he did and said during his recent arrest, he ostensibly has expressed his contrition publicly on two separate conditions and is seeking treatment for his substance abuse problem. And rightly so. Justice demands repentance, punishment, and a sincere resolve to mend his ways.

However, what is most ironic is that so many members of the Hollywood elite, as well as the secular media pundits, are so quick to express their revulsion at Mel's drunken anti-Semitic tirade while having no qualms about criticizing his Catholicism whatsoever. Perhaps one of the greatest omissions in the world of the Oscar and Golden Globe Awards was the complete dismissal of "The Passion of the Christ", as if it did not even exist. This was obviously purposeful because anyone who watched the film with an open heart and mind could not help but be moved in an extraordinary way. It received critical acclaim from audiences worldwide and many lives were completely transformed.

While a movie such as "Brokeback Mountain", which blatantly promotes a pro-homosexual theme, is lavishly praised and rewarded for its purported sensitivity and outstanding acting, the greatest event in human history, Christ's salvific offering of Himself for all of mankind, was completely ignored. Liberal actors and actresses constantly slander the reputation of President Bush, the United States government, and, worst of all, support the most despicable murder of innocent, pre-born life. Nobody even bats an eyelash. In fact, they're often praised and rewarded.

Yet, these same celebrities are outraged at Mel! If there are self-righteous actors who do not want to work with Mel ever again, I'm sure that is no great tragedy for Mel. He has no need to work with individuals whose words and actions portray such a duplicitous nature.

"He who is without sin cast the first stone." We should not only pray for Mel, but especially pray for those who are completely blind to their sin and have no remorse. I certainly hope that the good Lord above will not judge any of as harshly as the press has been judging Mel.

God, have mercy on all of us!
