DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (JULY 22, 2009) - Thomas S. Monaghan, Chancellor and CEO of the Ave Maria University and Jeff Hunter, President of Hunter Construction Services, Inc. are delighted to announce the establishment of the Rev. Brendan Dalton scholarship fund.

The scholarship will be offered to graduating seniors from the Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, FL. The purpose of The Father Brendan Dalton Archbishop McCarthy High School Scholarship at Ave Maria University is to attract outstanding students who graduate from Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, Florida. All students who apply and are accepted at Ave Maria University from this high school as incoming freshman can compete and will be considered for the scholarship award.

The scholarship will be named after Rev. Brendan Dalton, Pastor of St. Bernadette Parish in Hollywood, FL since 1991 and Supervising Principal of Archbishop McCarthy High School.

Jeff Hunter of Hunter Construction Services in Deerfield Beach, the major benefactor behind the scholarship stated, "I felt strongly about honoring father Dalton with this gift as he has been a major influence in my life - both spiritually and professionally."

The scholarship - amounting to a total of $20,000 over 4 years, will be awarded to incoming freshmen who are selected.

The university - located in southwest Florida- is an academic institution that pledges faithfulness to the teachings of the Church and is committed to providing one of the finest classical liberal arts curricula available.

Founded in fidelity to Christ and His Church in response to the call of Vatican II for greater lay witness in contemporary society, Ave Maria University exists to further teaching, research, and learning at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the abiding tradition of Catholic thought in both national and international settings.

Hunter Construction Services is a full service general contractor located in Deerfield Beach. Besides general contracting, Hunter performs structural concrete as well as disaster recovery and remediation. Recently Hunter was awarded exclusive contract for hurricane repair and remediation work by the Diocese of Palm Beach.
