Catholic Author Slams Michael Jackson - He Was No Role Model!

Phoenix, AZ (July 4, 2009) - Catholic columnist and author of the recently released book "Overcoming Life's 7 Common Tragedies," Chris Benguhe acknowledges that Michael Jackson was a great entertainer, but that his life and the way he lived was a disaster not worthy of praise.

"This was a man who could have truly made an extraordinary difference in the world, if only he realized that he was not above the rest of us," says Benguhe. "That he didn't have the right to be 'insane' and to waste his time, money, resources and his life allowing himself to go insane in public."

Benguhe, who spent over a decade covering Jackson and others as a tabloid reporter, then as an entertainment editor before turning his life around to write books about everyday people says Americans have lost site of the real value of entertainers elevating them instead to the level of demigods, who they no longer hold accountable to any standards of behavior whatsoever.

"It's time for Americans to stop putting their faith in celebrities and return to real values and real life," says Benguhe "But unfortunately we allow stars to do, say, act or self-destruct in whatever way they want, almost regardless of the cost to society, and why - because they are fun to watch, or because they have some special talent?"

The author is especially critical of the cultural and media personalities who have attempted to turn this misguided man into some kind of Messiah after his death.

Benguhe insists that the majority of Jackson's life was "a self-obsessed series of snafus which didn't do anyone in his family or the rest of the world any good."

"All of it had one thing in common - it was self-absorbed, self-indulgent, and self-sabotaging behavior that did nothing to capitalize on his fame and fortune to make the world a better place, but in fact had exactly the opposite effect."
