LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - This is the largest profit ever made by a corporation, edging out the $16.2 billion that Gazprom made in the first quarter of 2011.

Help provide kids with the quality learning tools they need.

Apple also posted its best quarterly revenue, with $74.6 billion in sales, up about 30 percent from this same period last year.

Because of this, shares of Apple jumped 9 percent in premarket trading.

"Interest in Apple products is at an all time high... shattering our high expectations," said Apple's CEO, Tim Cook. "This volume is hard to comprehend."

The iPad continues to fail, dropping 18 percent in sales to just 21.4 million, while Mac sales actually grew to 5.5 million, up 15 percent.

Still, Apple's killer app is still the iPhone, and while it is already the best-selling device ever made, just this quarter, the iPhone eclipsed the selling rates of entire industry devices, like televisions, which only sold 60 million units this last quarter, or tablets, which sold just 54 million units.

Computers are another industry that is selling less units than iPhones; just 84 million units were sold last quarter.

New deals made with Chinese manufacturers and distributors may be behind some of the recent success, but no one should think for a moment that Apple climbed to the top of the technological ladder on anyone's feet except its own.

The current generation of Apple smartphone, the iPhone 6, has been extremely popular with customers. The 4.7-inch screen is comparable to some Android smartphones, and a new and improved camera is also a highly desirable feature.

Taking care of your physical and mental health? But what are you doing for your spiritual health?

Even better for Apple, some analysts believe that about half of all iPhone 6 customers spent an additional $100 to upgrade their iPhone to having 64 gigabytes of storage, four times as much as the standard model's 16 gigabytes.

This certainly won't be the end of record sales for Apple, and only the future can tell just how high this tech giant will grow.
