Insurgence
FREE Catholic Classes
Dear Christian Brothers and Sisters:
You probably know by now (or, should know) that the "insurgence" was and is caused by three things primarily:
1.) The shelling of Lebanon by our 6th Fleet in the 1970's under Ronald Reagan's watch.
2.) The disbanding of the Iraqi Army after our occupation of Iraq. (Those unemployed soldiers of Saddam's army became what are now referred to as "insurgents".)
and
3.) Our president's refusal to listen to the will of the people and his pursuit of continuing hostilities even in the light of reason and counsel from many of his advisors.
The arrogance of many people to cry "War and Revenge", when it is our beloved country that has insinuated itself into the policies and resources of the Middle East for many decades is demeaning to Americans who wish our country to be a clean, upright and noble nation and not a nation that thrives on bullying and piracy.
The atrocities committed by the insurgents is horrific indeed. No less horrific is the maiming and killing of children, men and women albeit from miles offshore where our Navy could not even see or count the casualties their shells had inflicted.
Those who turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the grievances of the enemy simply do not wish to be irritated by troublesome facts!
I hope that you are neither deaf nor blind, my dear fellow Christians.
Patriotism is wonderful, meaningful and right. However, the jingoistic phrase, "My country right or wrong" is erroneous in logic and arrogant in nature. We should want our country to do the right thing and correct any wrong it has done or is doing.
Let us pray for enlightenment and guidance from our Heavenly Father so that we are blessed and become the peacemakers who are called, "the children of God.
"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God." (Sermon On The Mount).
