Catholics finding new home online

CatholicLane.com offers intuitive layout full of useful, effective content

WOODSTOCK, GA (March 16, 2011) - The new "Catholic Lane" website is unique in a variety of ways.

"It's a breath of fresh air. I love it!" That has been the reaction of reader after reader to the new Catholic website, Catholic Lane. Debuting just weeks ago, and now coming to the attention of Catholics across the country, Catholic Lane - "where faith drives daily" -- is a vibrant alternative for a faithfully Catholic homepage.

Editor-in-chief of Catholic Lane, Mary Kochan, former senior editor at Catholic Exchange, expressed her delight with her new internet home. "In the years that I've worked as a Catholic editor, I've heard from a lot from readers about what they liked or disliked about Catholic sites. At Catholic Lane, I was able to take that accumulated knowledge and put it to creative use in the design of a website that is both attractive and very functional."

"Catholic Lane" is a cooperative effort linking a number of apostolates and several Catholic businesses, including Catholic Underground - a non-profit whose mission has been to be evangelists on the digital continent. Catholic Underground's Fr. Chris Decker and Joshua LeBlanc are directly involved with "Catholic Lane," and Le Blanc is President and CEO of Bayouland Computer Solutions, Catholic Lane's parent company.

You can see at a glance how easy Catholic Lane is for the daily reader to navigate. The structure of the website is intuitive, with a simple, logical, category structure. Mary Kochan points out that this serves both the readers and the scores of Catholic writers contributing to the site. "A website like this connects the writers and readers. My job is to serve them both."

Kochan has created a "Resources" section that will be home to effective, useful information for a wide Catholic audience. "What works for marriage prep?" Kochan asked. "What works for instructing teens in the faith? Etc. We can't keep what works confined to a single parish, school, or diocese - we all need to know! So the resources page is linked both to material archived on Catholic Lane and to other sources. We have only just begun to build it, but over time we anticipate that it will be a useful resource for Catholics all over the country."
