DEACON LAUNCHES CHRISTIAN ART APOSTOLATE

BLISSFIELD, MI (September 28, 2010) - Deacon Lawrence Klimecki, a permanent deacon in the Sacramento Diocese, has launched a new Christian Art apostolate, www.GryphonRampant.com, aimed at teens and young adults, especially boys and young men, which will promote a restoration of art to its' traditional role in the church, and help to evangelize through contemporary designs of ancient Christian symbols.

The effort, which was officially introduced August 15, will include art, stories, comics, trivia and merchandise with a faith based focus.

Klimecki said in a statement: "Our art shares and teaches the faith in unexpected ways, and in a time when the numbers of teens and young adults who are active in their faith is declining, Gryphon Rampant seeks to reach youth where they are - with art, stories, comics and merchandise that appeals to them."

Current products include limited edition t-shirts featuring the Gryphon, the Amphisbaena and an ancient Marian symbol signifying Mary's role as Queen of Heaven.

Said Klimecki, "The shirt designs were launched at eXclaim, in Toledo, Ohio and we had an overwhelming response. The interest among the youth was high - and they especially loved that each design has a deeper meaning, a story, that connected the images to their faith. For example, the Gryphon doesn't just look cool, he is the master of two worlds, the earth and sky. According to legend, the Gryphon guards tremendous treasure and guides souls to heaven. The newest additions to the www.GryphonRampant.com line up include a new comic series entitled "Templar" chronicling the adventures of a Poor Knight of the Temple of Solomon as he guides and protects pilgrims on their journey to the Kingdom of Heaven. Launched September 20, 2010, the series has already achieved hundreds of downloads.
