Dr. Kate Bolton & Mr. John Ruley to be Honored with National Catholic Award
Annual Msgr. Anthony Brouwers Award to be presented April 13, 2013
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 3, 2013) - Mission Doctors Association will recognize the dedicated service of Dr. Kate Bolton and Mr. John Ruley on April 13, 2013 at the Mission Doctors Auxiliary Benefit Gala at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles. Kate and John will be the recipients of the annual Monsignor Anthony Brouwers Award, named for the founder of Mission Doctors. Last year's honorees, Dr. Tim and Mrs. Sheila Cavanagh, will present the award.
Long time residents of Modesto and local pediatrician Dr. Bolton and husband Mr. Ruley are receiving this award for their faith-filled service with Mission Doctors. They have served together in Ghana, Cameroon, Guatemala and Uganda. Before they were married, Dr. Bolton served for three years in Papua New Guinea. Kate and John also serve of Mission Doctors Association Board of Directors. John is also a pilot who has flown many missions taking physicians and supplies to Mexico with Liga.
Elise Frederick, Executive Director of Mission Doctors Association said "Kate and John truly live their faith in service to others. Their faith is an inspiration, not only to those whom they serve, but to all of us. Joyfully embracing opportunities to give their time has been a gift to so many people, from a rural hospital in Uganda, to a makeshift clinic in Guatemala. In this past year Kate has been confronting a serious health challenge, and together they are facing this with the same faith they live each day. Their lives are truly a witness of what it means to be a follower of Christ. We are grateful for the opportunity to recognize them with an award named for our founder, whose Missionary heart inspires us even today."
The Annual Gala Benefit is the annual celebration of the Mission Doctors Auxiliary. All are welcome to join with the members of the Auxiliary, 'veteran' Mission Doctors, friends and family who come together on this special evening. Tickets are still available for this event.
