Father Apostoli to Speak on Fatima Messages
Fatima expert says apparitions are just as relevant in today's world

STEUBENVILLE, OH (March 8, 2012) - Are the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima as relevant to today's society as they were when given to three Portuguese children in 1917?

Father Andrew Apostoli, CFR, will answer this question at Franciscan University of Steubenville on Tuesday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery of the J.C. Williams Center. His talk, "Fatima for Today," is sponsored by the University's Distinguished Speakers Series and is free and open to the public.

"[The Blessed Virgin Mary] plays a major role, second only to her son, in the work of redeeming the world. This role involves her in continuous conflict with Satan," writes Father Apostoli in his most recent book Fatima for Today: The Urgent Marian Message of Hope. "At Fatima, however, Our Lady assured us that the final victory would be hers: 'In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph!'"

Apostoli will clarify the historical facts of Our Lady's apparitions and the apparitions of the Angel of Peace; emphasize the message of prayer, sacrifice, and suffering in striving for holiness; and address the objections and questions made involving the Consecration of Russia and the Third Secret of Fatima. In addition, Apostoli will give an update on his efforts as vice-postulator for the cause for the canonization of Archbishop Fulton Sheen.

Apostoli is a founding member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and an in-demand retreat leader, speaker, and spiritual director. He is also the author of several other books and makes frequent appearances on the Eternal Word Television Network.

His lecture is part of the Distinguished Speakers Series, which hosts leaders who integrate their faith and public life and who inspire the next generation to be a transforming presence in the Church and society.
