'Paul Ryan and his ilk, their problem is they have become so disconnected by the people whom they are elected to represent.'

During an interview, Sarah Palin slammed White House Speaker Paul Ryan for his refusal to back GOP candidate Donald Trump, then explains why she is not Vice President material.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Sarah Palin was interviewed on CNN's "State of the Union," where interviewer Jake Tapper asked her about the presidential race and Ryan's preparation for the Wisconsin primary.

Palin explained her decision to support Ryan's opponent, Paul Nehlen.

"I will do whatever I can for Paul Nehlen," Palin told Tapper, explaining the decision was made the same week Ryan announced he was not prepared to support Trump.

"I think Paul Ryan is soon to be 'Cantored,' as in Eric Cantor," Palin explained, referencing the former Republican House majority leader.

"His political career is over but for a miracle because he has so disrespected the will of the people, and as the leader of the GOP, the convention, certainly he is to remain neutral, and for him to already come out and say who he will not support is not a wise decision of his," Palin added.

While Ryan was very open with his stance, Nehlen announced his endorsement of Trump for the GOP candidacy.

Palin described Nehlen as "a hard-working guy, so in touch with the people," then added, "Paul Ryan and his ilk, their problem is they have become so disconnected by the people whom they are elected to represent.

"They feel so threatened at this point that their power, their prestige, their purse will be adversely affected by the change that is coming with Trump and with someone like Paul Nehlen, that they're not thinking straight right now."

In reference to Ryan's announcement to run for the presidency in 2020, Palin simply replied: "If the GOP were to win now, that wouldn't bode well for his chances in 2020, and that's what he's shooting for."

While Ryan's stance and possible future presidency campaign were discussed, Palin added she was a "realist" and how she "wouldn't want to be a burden on the ticket" for the position of U.S. Vice President.

"I just want [Trump] to win," Palin explained. "I want America to win, and I don't know if I'd be the person to help him win."
