Police now know the 'Bigfoot' is a person in a fur suit.

Earlier this week, a video which shows a Bigfoot walking in the tall grass along a rural road, went viral. The video prompted the police to issue a warning, asking people not to shoot the creature.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Bigfoot was sighted in North Carolina and captured on video. The video was recorded in 2015, but corresponds to a series of sightings around that time. The video recently went viral and prompted local police to issue a warning. Please don't shoot Bigfoot!

The 2015 video was posted after another sighting on last Friday night around 11 PM.

The video was taken in 2015 in a rural area outside of Greenville, NC. Police quickly surmised it was a person in a gorilla suit. However, locals insisted it was not gorilla they saw.

The police asked: "If you see Bigfoot, please do not shoot at him/her, as you'll most likely be wounding a fun-loving and well-intentioned person, sweating in a gorilla costume."

This morning, the truth has come out. A local man who claims to be a shaman, has accepted responsibility for the Bigfoot sighting, saying the creature everyone saw was him wearing animal furs as part of a shaministic ritual.

Gaowain MacGregor says he is the person in the video. He wears a suit of fur as part of a shamanistic ritual.

The shaman has been identified as Gawain MacGregor, and he shared pictures of himself with the McDowell news wearing his suit.

There are more convincing sightings of Bigfoot out there, so the mystery remains unsolved. Bigfoot cryptids are thought to still live in the Pacific Northwest, possibly ranging from Northern California to Canada. However, no physical evidence of their existence has been verified as authentic, leaving only legends and anecdotes, as well as the occasional photograph to tantalize the public imagination.

And please, if you do encounter a Bigfoot, try not to shoot it, just in case it is someone having fun in a costume.
