LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- Prosecutors are charging four more individuals with felonies, and they could face fines of $10,000 and ten years in prison if convicted.

Those charged identified themselves as a documentary producer, a photographer, a live-streamer, and a freelance reporter. Despite their roles as reporters, they allegedly became involved in clashes with riot police.

Journalists in the field should not become involved in anything. Their purpose is to document for others, not to tack action themselves, or to act on behalf of others. Journalists who become involved in anti-Trump riots are tainted, and cannot be expected to report objectively on his administration.

This is how fake news starts, with reporters who have an agenda and who are unwilling to remain neutral. It shows a lack of professional integrity.

Such individuals may have a higher calling or think they are resisting corruption or evil, and that is their right. But they cannot also be journalists.

One of the greatest problems highlighted by the 2016 election cycle is the blatant bias and engineering of reality by the media and social networks to further their agendas. The news is no longer about presenting facts and making one's mind. It's about believing without question what is broadcast.

The four journalists are added to two others charged with similar offenses on Friday. The six all protest their arrests.

Police work alongside journalists all the time. Both know how to respect the other and what interactions are safe and appropriate. Police do not arrest journalists who are simply doing their work in a professional manner. To be arrested one must display criminal behavior.

However, all six deny the charges against them.

The six are among some 200 protestors arrested in Washington D.C. while protesting the inauguration of Donald Trump.

President Trump has issued no comment and continues to act on promises he made during the campaign.
