Not a newsflash, U.S. government authorized use of propaganda on American people...in 2013. Here's who to blame

Propaganda is now ubiquitous.

Does the news seem a little too pro-American to you? Does it seem reporters pull punches and that the real issues are ignored? Perhaps that's the result of a quiet change to the law that took place in 2013. A law banning the use of government propaganda on the American people was silently amended into oblivion. Since then, the media has shifted into control mode.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Since 1948, the U.S. government has been forbidden to use propaganda against the American people. Propaganda can be described as the deliberate engineering of reality, and the use of highly-evocative emotional content to influence people.

In 2013, the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and the Foreign Relations Authorization act, were both neutralized. The acts protected the American people from government-made propaganda.

The proponents of the neutralizing amendment said our propaganda has been effective at dissuading people from terrorist propaganda overseas, and should be used at home too, given that al Qaeda is everywhere, even in the United States.

The amendment was put forward by Red Mac Thornberry (R-TX) and Adam Smith (D-WA). The congressmen argued that the propaganda was too good not to use domestically. They were likely referring to anti-terror propaganda.

The problem, of course, is that propaganda, which is often beamed into countries like Somalia and North Korea, can now be broadcast into the United States. And there is no reason it has to be anti-terror propaganda. Now, anything goes.

It should come as no surprise to Americans that classical journalism is dead. Political whistle-blowing and reports of government collusion and corruption have been largely replaced by tabloid celebrity coverage and yellow journalism.

Venerable publishing houses have gone out of business and they've been replaced by organizations that promote clickbait and other brain-candy articles.

Even worse, but known to few people, is that our government has begun censorship of news content. In the past two years, Catholic Online remained dedicated to showing the face of Islam to the people. This included sharing selections of ISIS propaganda content, intended to show Americans what we are dealing with overseas.

However, these videos have been routinely censored, often by the websites where this content is posted. Sites from YouTube to LiveLeak, and several others have pulled down viral content that tell the truth about ISIS and the War on Terror.

These organizations aggressively censor their own content, likely at the request of  the government. What's strange is that only certain content is restricted. For example, a website might carry exceptionally graphic video from anywhere, yet a similar video from ISIS-held territory will be removed.

With many Americans getting news from Facebook, and spending so much time on Instagram and Snapchat, Facebook can engineer reality. By pushing certain news, they engineer the notion that some issues are important while others are virtually swept under the rug.

Of course, the American people themselves are primarily to blame. Apathy and a lack of effort to support independent media, or to do research for one's self, allows the government-media complex to engineer our reality.

How else can we explain the preoccupation with restrooms instead of the million of votes that have gone uncounted this year?
