According to Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni, the Pope continues to recover well following his three-hour surgery on June 7 to repair an incisional hernia.

As part of his hospital stay on June 15, Pope Francis took the opportunity to visit the pediatric oncology ward at Gemelli Hospital, located adjacent to his own hospital suite. During his visit, the Pope empathized with the pain endured by these children who carry the burden of suffering on a daily basis, alongside their parents.

The Vatican remains optimistic about Pope Francis' recovery and his return to his duties. The Pope's resilience and compassionate gestures during his hospitalization serve as an inspiration to many around the world.
