LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Vatcan Radio reported Pope Francis stated: "Today we celebrate the memory of St. Faustina Kowalska. She reminded the world that God is rich in mercy and that His love is more powerful than death, sin and every evil.
"May this message of the Merciful Jesus, entrusted to her, bear fruit in your life with a deeper union with God and the works of mercy."
The Pontiff continued, calling Christians to follow the example of another saint - St. Therese of Lisieux, who helped people come to Jesus.
She taught people they could join in unity with Christ through "prayer, adoration and in concrete charity, which is serving Jesus, who is present in the least of our brothers and sisters."
Radio Vatican reported Pope Francis spoke of his Apostolic visit to Georgia and Azerbaijan and the importance of Christian Unity and dialogue.
He shared his gratitude and believes his visit helped encourage Catholic communities to journey toward peace and fraternity.
"True mission...is never proselytism, but attraction towards Christ, unity in prayer, in adoration and in works of charity."
The Pontiff said true Christian unity can be found in the blood of the Christian martyrs of different Christian confessions, especially in Assyrian-Chaldean, "with whom we prayed for peace in Syria, Iraq and the whole Middle East.
Pope Francis shared he was also able to be part of an inter-religious meeting and celebrate Mass with the small Catholic community.
He encouraged them to deepen their encounters and dialogues with all who believe. In doing so, believers can join together to build a greater world.
