Look what closed downtown LA on a Sunday - Los Angeles

Sunday traffic in downtown LA was thick, but with bicycles, not cars. The traffic was all part of the fun as locals turned out to celebrate the city's fifth CicLAvia festival, which encourages people to ride their bicycles around the downtown area for the day.
LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The celebration was accommodated by closing off some nine miles of city streets to cars and trucks, leaving them free and open for cyclists.
Organizers estimated attendance to be around some 100,000 participants.
The festival bills itself as the city's "biggest block party." The goal of the event is to encourage people to consider and explore other ways of getting around.
The five-year-old festival was inspired by similar events in South America which have been successful in encouraging people to ride bikes more often and rely on cars a little less.
