Supporting Catholic Authors

A friend sent an interesting link to me; a Catholic author requesting a novena for an interest in Catholic fiction initiated it. As a Catholic editor of fiction as well as non-fiction, I read through it with enthusiasm and was not disappointed.
It’s about time, I thought! Let’s get this party started! Our Protestants brothers and sisters enjoy a wealth of Christian literature and support their myriad authors, sight unseen. I love that loyalty.
As Catholics we do a mighty fine job of supporting our well-known and beloved authors of non-fiction, and rightly so. We are blessed to have such names as Scott Hahn and Raymond Arroyo contributing to our edification as Catholics. My shelves are filled with their works as well as the works of Bert Ghezzi, Frank Chacon, and Patrick Madrid.
But I also want to take a leap of faith and do my part in supporting Catholic fiction writers as well. I love visiting Lisa Hendey’s site, www.CatholicMom.com where Lisa spends countless hours reading and reviewing books from Catholic authors.
As summer approaches and my mind already sees me relaxing with some great books, I have just made my purchases through Lisa’s site, based upon her reviews. I feel honored to offer my support to fledging Catholic authors and look forward to reading two mysteries and a family book recommended by Lisa. I like spending my money with Catholic sites and know that my summer reading list is anointed because of this leap of faith.
Let’s get this party started!
