We ask you, urgently: don't scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Op/Ed

I read your Op/Ed article on Catholic Online titled, "Are we really Pro-Life?" and I am deeply discouraged.

Below is my response, which I sent to the author.

We CANNOT vote for John Kerry. If Bush is evil, he is the lesser of two evils.

In regards to the death penalty: Saint Paul says that the government reserves the right to punish by the sword. The death penalty, though it should be a last resort, and is often abused in our Country, is by no means on the same level as the slaughtering of 4,000 children a day. It can even be just.

You mention (at least I think you mentioned) Stem cell research. You said, "President Bush has denied further funds for research that could go towards possible treatment and cures for over 128 million people afflicted by illness, disease, and severe injury. This is not an abortion issue! It is a respect for life issue!" George Bush and the Catholic Church are against embryonic Stem cell research, which kills an unborn child. It kills a human embryo. Life starts at conception. On the other hand, ADULT stem cell research, the stem cells you can get by swabbing the inside of your mouth with a Q-tip or an umbilical cord, (after delivery) has already led to miraculous cures. Two once paralyzed women CAN WALK. Stem cell research has not led to a single cure, and other countries and private companies are funding it. Evil must not be used as a means to good. Destroying Life is not respecting it.

Now for the war in Iraq. It is not a clear cut moral issue like abortion. It can be argued either way. The church only guide us infallibly with issues of Faith and Morality. Until we get to Heaven, we cannot know for sure. If it is evil, the deaths there cannot outweigh 4,000 innocent children slaughtered EVERY DAY in our country alone.

Faithful Catholics ARE a one vote issue group. Why not vote for Hitler? His economic and political ideas were awesome. Killing Jews was only one issue. One issue can outweigh all others. May Jesus Bless you and our Nation through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
