Straight Guy with the Catholic Eye: Choosing death - and proud of it!

Imagine that.

Planned Parenthood, arguably the world's most sinister organization next to Al-Qaeda, is now selling T-shirts that say "I had an abortion."

Translation: "I had an abortion, and I'm proud of it!"

Further translation: "I had my unborn child killed, and I'm proud of it!"

There isn't a whole lot one who embraces the sanctity of human life can say about this new anti-life campaign. Another sad sign of the times? Disgusting? Reprehensible? Sad?

They all work.

Veteran pro-life activist Joe Scheidler of the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League (www.prolifeaction.org) had this to say about Planned Parenthood's T-shirt campaign:

"The world's leading abortion promoting organization has tried for sixty years to undo the stigma of abortion, using politicians, rock and movie stars - but none of it works. Abortion is still murder and everyone knows it.

"Remember their 'Choice on Earth' Christmas cards? These folks are sick. We can't help but wonder if they realize just how bad they look to normal people?"

Amen to that.

Jim Finnegan, another veteran pro-life activist and president of Illinois Choose Life, Inc. (www.ilchoose-life.org), had this to say on the matter:

"Just when I thought I had heard it all, and we had reached rock bottom, the abortion-on-demand crowd comes up with this one. Actually, it is encouraging if one realizes what is happening:

"Thanks to advances in medical science such as 3-D imaging, the recent video on the baby movements within the womb yawning, 'dancing,' opening eye...and thanks to pro-life activists on the streets of America with the pictures of the child in-utero - and that same child destroyed in abortion - the American people are strongly moving to a pro-child, pro-life stance.

"This truly is an act of desperation. I can not even imagine seeing the first one of the 'ladies' wearing [such a shirt] at the local restaurant or mall. As most of you know, I have always taken Proverbs 24:11-12 seriously as the Lord expects us to. With this in mind, I wear my pro-life clothes as often as possible.

"I must also admit that this touches on our effort to have our Choose Life Adoption Aid specialty license plate available in Illinois. Planned Parenthood, NOW, the ACLU and NARAL argue that by allowing us our plate the state is taking sides.

"The judges in various courts across America have all come down on the side of First Amendment free speech rights, saying [the abortion advocates] can get their own specialty plate but cannot stop others from having theirs - while not even having applied for their own."

Concludes Finnegan, ever so facetiously: "This [pro-abortion slogan] would be a great choice for them to use not only on their T-shirts, but on their automobiles as well. Don't hold your breath until you see the first of either with your 'baby blues.'"

Hmm. Well, don't be too shocked if you ever come across a vehicle with a "Choose Death" license plate.

I betchya it'll have a "John Kerry for President" bumper sticker, too.
