Learn to Appreciate Traits of Your Spouse and Children with 'The Temperament God Gave You' Program

Minneapolis, MN (February 4, 2010) - The daily interaction of family life can lead people to holiness if guided by the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church, according to a pastoral letter "Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan" released by the US Council of Catholic Bishops this past November, 2009. A new program offered by the Familia apostolate helps families find that path to holiness by appreciating and supporting the unique identity and development of each person.

"The Temperament God Gave You: The Classic Key to Knowing Yourself, Getting Along with Others and Growing Closer to the Lord," is now available. The study is based on "The Temperament God Gave You" by Laraine and Art Bennett.

"A good understanding of the four basic human temperaments, Sanguine, Melancholic, Choleric and Melancholic, helps family members recognize the intrinsic aspect of our nature that each person is born with and how it affects reactions, emotions, perceptions and decision-making," said Laraine Bennett. "You can use this knowledge to unlock motivation, real communication and conflict resolution with your kids, your spouse and those you work with."

Jean Stolpestad, Director of Marketing for Familia, said the program is offered in an 8-session format for small groups. "The program helps men, women and couples understand the gifts God has given with each person's temperament. It offers a balanced approach to help families improve parenting skills, communication and relationships within the family unit. With these skills, marriages grow stronger and families are strengthened. The program is a response to the expressed needs of parish personnel and in the interest of Catholic couples. It is easy to implement and fun to participate in."

The program includes special training for the group leaders, called "facilitators," providing them with an online course to improve leadership skills and their understanding of group dynamics, lesson-by-lesson training audios to help groups get the most out of each lesson, and an answer key for the program questions.

FAMILIA is a national apostolate of Regnum Christi committed to the well-being of the family. Using the Gospel, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and other Church documents, Familia's programs help families by fostering an awareness of the need for Christ and the Church in daily family life.
