Former Vatican Ambassador, Cardinal DiNardo Among Recipients of Nat'l Award

EXTON, PA, (November 13, 2009) – Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) will present the 2009 Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership to four national Catholic leaders at a reception and dinner to be held Friday, November 13th at the Drexelbrook, 4700 Drexelbrook Drive, Drexel Hill, PA. Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Awards Dinner, Catholic Leadership Institute will celebrate the Year For Priests, as declared by Pope Benedict XVI.

The 2009 honorees include:
•Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston and the first Cardinal elevated from the Southern United States.
•Barbara Henkels, National Catholic philanthropist and advocate for Catholic education.
•Sister Briege McKenna, O.S.C. Internationally-recognized retreat leader for priests and a life-long sister.
•Secretary Jim Nicholson, Former Vatican Ambassador and advocate for Catholic life and social teaching.

“CLI developed the Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership in 2000 to recognize people in the Catholic Church whose exemplary leadership in the family, the workplace, the community and the Church has been inspired by their Catholic faith,” said Timothy C. Flanagan, Founder and Chair of Catholic Leadership Institute. “It has been the privilege of Catholic Leadership Institute, over the last ten years, to lift up the great work of Catholic role models and celebrate their impact on the world.”

The event is expected to draw over 550 guests, including cardinals, bishops and priests from around the country. A reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. will be followed by dinner and the awards ceremony.
