CatholicTV Programming Educates Viewers on Healthcare and Ethical Issues

WATERTOWN, MA (November 9, 2009) - During the month of November, CatholicTV will offer programming related to abortion, human dignity, marriage, and sexuality. These topics are of particular concern to Catholics given the debate about healthcare reform and the ongoing debate regarding same-sex marriage.

One programming block in particular will offer information pertaining to marriage and human dignity during November on CatholicTV. "Body Matters" is a programming block which focuses on issues which damage societal morality. In November, "Body Matters" will feature special programming starring Fr. Roger Landry, a Harvard-educated priest who is well-versed in the Theology of the Body teachings of Pope John Paul II. On November 4th, this issue returned to the spotlight as Maine became the 31st out of 31 states to vote against gay marriage by popular vote. CatholicTV's Kevin Nelson also reported this news during CatholicTV's talk show "This is the Day" on November 6th. During the same episode of "This is the Day" Cardinal Seán O'Malley, Archbishop of Boston spoke with General Manager Jay Fadden about the need to make health care available to the vulnerable and protect the unborn. Father Robert Reed, Director of CatholicTV also addressed the important health care legislation facing our lawmakers.

"Body Matters", features well-known speakers on contemporary issues facing Catholics including Fr. Tad Pacholczyk of the National Catholic Bioethics Center. "Body Matters" focuses on Catholic moral issues and airs each week at the following times: Monday 12:00 Midnight, Tuesday 2:00PM & 8:30 PM, Friday 10:30 PM, Sunday 7:30 PM (EST),

During the week of November 16th, Fr. Landry will discuss the sacrament of marriage. During the week of November 23rd, Fr. Landry will give his reflections on Pope Paul VI's Humanae Vitae, which discusses contraception, sexuality, and marriage among other issues.

Another show on CatholicTV called "The Future Depends on Love" is a show which focuses on marriage and chastity. During the week of November 9th, The Future Depends on Love will feature a discussion about Marriage Enrichment and marriage encounter with guests Ray and Beth Ginepro.
