Hymn for the Year of the Priestly Jubilee

ENGLEWOOD, TN (October 12, 2009) - Vincent Uher in the state of Texas in the United States has become known as a Roman Catholic with a great interest in hymnology. So it is not surprising that this retired Anglican priest turned Roman Catholic has taken to writing hymn texts.

The Church Music Association of America has embarked upon the project of creating a Catholic Hymnal which may well be the first Catholic Hymnal in the Public Domain. This does not mean that all of the hymns will be old hymns, rather many hymns of modern writers and composers are included using something new called Creative Commons. This licensing permits people to reserve some rights while permitting others.

This is where Vincent Uher comes in. He has written Hymn for the Year Of Priestly Jubilee and made it available under Creative Commons in such a way that anyone make take the hymn, copy it and share it. The only restriction is that it may not be sold or included in a collection to be sold without his permission.

This hymn and new ones are in this new collection of hymns, The Parish Book Of Chant, which is pending publication at the CMAA website, www.musicasacra.com.
