Mugnano del Cardinale – Avellino, Italy (August 6, 2009) - In occasion of the Liturgical Feast in honour to Saint Philomena this August, I assure you all of keeping you in our prayers and remembering you all during the celebrations of the special solemn masses. AS we all know Pope Benedict XVI, announced this year the special year for all priests to mark the 150th anniversary of the death of the Cure of Ars starting on the 19th June 2009 – 2010 and by also designating St. John Vianney patron saint of parish priests as the universal patron saint of all worldwide priests. I invite you all, to deeply pray during the feast of St. Philomena in harmony with the whole Filomenian family in the world by also reciting your prayers towards our dear St. John Vianney and all the worldwide priests to carry on their hard and good mission. Exhorting you all to be united in prayer and where possible to gather together, to implore her powerful patronage.

This year the religious and civil external Feast of Saint Philomena which is held here at the Sanctuary, where Our dear Princesses Sacred body lies, has been fully organized by the me as Rector of the Sanctuary, as it was not possible to form an external committee to help to take care of the organization of the Feast. I will have to personally fully cover all the costs involved, as it has already been done in the last recent years with the help and contribution support of the donations of the community of Mugnano del Cardinale and many worldwide devotees.
I am certain that many may live the powerful presence of our dear Saint Philomena even in their own Parish, Archconfraternity centre or home. She is always there to guide and look over us. As many Feasts in honour to St. Philomena will also be celebrated in various parts of the world apart from the Sanctuary here in Mugnano del Cardinale (Avellino). In the following link , you will find the programmes that apart from our full Feast program we have also published some of the feast programs reported to us up to today by our official Centres that work in union with the Sanctuary, assuring you that there are many more that have not been listed, caused by not having informed us in time before the publication of this article: http://www.philomena.us/email/enewsletter_090802.asp
Before I close this message, I would just like to point out, that it disappoints me for the great confusion which is still being created by many internet sites not giving the right message of the devotion to Saint Philomena. My position is to try and stop all organizations that try to use the name of the Sanctuary and most of all the name of St. Philomena for making out a private business. It is also true as some have said that disagreements do arise in all organizations religious or not. That any group decides to have a private devotion to St. Philomena is permitted, but only when the original rules and obligations of the devotion to Saint Philomena are followed and not changed as many are doing. I am against any association that promotes Catholic items per personal business and not for helping any Catholic church.
I mainly do not approve all associations that promote or use the blessed oil of saint Philomena and Relic medals and cards, which are not original, because they must only come from the Sanctuary here where Saint Philomena’s Sacred Body lies. So I hope that if you go into many websites and see that the blessed oil or the Relics they are promoting are not the original ones from the Sanctuary here, you may realize for your self and be assured that the web site is not approved by me as Rector and custodian of Saint Philomena and their devotional items are not authentic. For full details on the blessed oil of St. Philomena please read our newsletter of last January: http://www.philomena.us/email/enewsletter_090129.asp
The devotion to our dear Saint Philomena has grown so much in the last year like never before; we have worked so hard to recuperate many of the Universal official Archconfraternity centres that had lost their path. Our official websites are getting the most numerous visits and hits ever. I also thank all our worldwide official representatives that work hard in their country and area in union with the Sanctuary in promoting the devotion to our dear precious and powerful Saint. I am certain that with it being a special year dedicated to St. John Vianney it will also bring major triumph to our dear Saint Philomena, as no one can talk or write of St. John Vianney with out mentioning Saint Philomena and Venerable Pauline Jaricot. He used to always say that all the miracles that he made in his life occurred through the intercession of St. Philomena.
May Saint Philomena bless you all during this special month of August.
United in Prayer
