RI Right to Life Endorses McCain/Palin

Providence, RI (SEPTEMBER 5, 2008) — The Rhode Island Right to Life (RIRTL) Political Action Committee (PAC) enthusiastically announces its endorsement of the McCain / Palin presidential ticket.

Barth E. Bracy, newly appointed Executive Director of RIRTL, said, “While John McCain’s Congressional voting record over the past 25 years already establishes him as the pro-life choice for President in 2008, his recent choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate puts an exclamation point to his repeated affirmation that he will be a pro-life President.”

“What is most compelling about this ticket is that the actions of both John McCain and Sarah Palin prove that they walk their pro-life talk,” said PAC Chairperson Lisa Torrado, recalling the McCains’ 1991 adoption of their daughter Bridget from Bangladesh as well as the Palins’ unwillingness to even consider aborting their now five-month-old baby boy, Trig, who was diagnosed in utero with Down syndrome.

RIRTL Chairperson Diane Manning added further, “With the Republican Party’s recent affirmation of its unwavering pro-life platform, the pro-life choice for President has never been clearer.”

Rhode Island Right to Life calls upon all Rhode Islanders and all Americans to affirm the dignity of all human life by voting for McCain / Palin on November 4. Further information regarding the stark contrast between the pro-life McCain / Palin ticket and the radically pro-abortion Obama / Biden ticket can be found on the Rhode Island Right to Life website, www.rirtl.org/elections2008.

About Rhode Island Right to Life: RIRTL was founded in 1970 with the mission to advocate for a state, nation and world in which the innocent lives of the unborn, the disabled, the elderly and the ill are cherished by the citizenry and protected by civil law. RIRTL lobbies for legislation that advances the cause of the sanctity of human life in the state and federally.

I am not surprised at this endorsement but deeply saddened & distressed. This will affect many good intentioned, faithful Catholics who are at times misled by this rhetoric. The McCain/Palin ticket is without a doubt ANTI-ABORTION but not by any stretch of the imagination is it PRO LIFE!!! What about WAR & THE DEATH PENALATY. The entire Republican platform is unsupportive of live after birth unless you have the money to "keep in your pockets & decide how YOU want to spend it" instead of paying taxes!! I would like to be surprised just once to hear a "RIGHT TO LIFE" group support a PRO LIFE candidate instead of just an ANTIABORTION candidate. Hope springs eternal!!!
