2007 Podcast Award Nomination given to Meditations from Carmel a Catholic Podcast
8/4/2007 - 12:00 AM PST

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDIA ADVISORY
Catholic PRWire

ST LOUIS, MO - AUGUST 4, 2007 - "The nomination is an affirmation that faithful Catholics using new media have a very important role to play in modern day evangelization. Using the Internet to teach and lead souls to live a prayerful and sacramental life in preparation for our eternity is what our Podcast is all about," says the community's website.

"Through the Meditations from Carmel Podcast we endeavor to enlighten souls to the ways of contemplative prayer as exampled by the great Saints of our Carmelite tradition. By listening to the Church Doctors of Prayer, Mysticism, Confidence and Missionaries (Saints Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross and Thérèse of Lisieux) we hope to bring you authentic spirituality through the Saint's own writings in our audio production."

The Meditations from Carmel podcast (www.stl-ocds.org) is brought to you from the Order of Carmel Discalced Secular at the Carmel of St. Joseph in St. Louis, Missouri. The community is a lay/secular religious order living the same charism and life of prayer as cloistered nuns or friars of the Carmelite Order. Their spirituality is inspired by the prophet Saint Elija and modeled on the humility and love of our holy mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary who brings us to love her Son, our Eternal Redeemer.

"As Carmelites living in the world, our calling is to listen to hear the whisper of God in the silence of our hearts. We seek Him, who we know loves us, and contemplate His wonders."

Our vocation is Carmel, but our simultaneous calling through this Podcasting apostolate, is to help the church to "take up her evangelizing mission with fresh enthusiasm" as Pope John Paul II encouraged us to do. Also, Pope Benedict XVI says the people of the Catholic Church should "spread the truth of the Gospel in the form of the New Evangelization."

Voting:
Voting began Sunday and will continue until August 11th at 2359 HST on the published last day of voting. Voters may daily select one or all categories to vote for and a verification email with a clickable link will be emailed to you so that the vote can be verified.
